What a Pocket dress

The sew-jo is still in full swing, and I've got another project to share with you. Would you look at the size of that pocket?!

Just posing to show off my pocket...

This is another Ellie & Mac pattern, the Be Independent dress. You'd be forgiven to think that I had become some kind of brand ambassador for Ellie & Mac. It seems to be all I sew at the moment! The truth it, I'm hooked with their Wacky week promotion (a silver lining of the current situation), and the opportunity to pick up fantastic patterns for $1 is just too hard to resist. But no, I'm not affiliated, and actually don't do any affiliate links (at the moment anyway - perhaps one day I will give it more thought).

And it took me seconds from seeing this pattern on sale for $1 to snapping it up. That pocket must be every toddler's dream! Imagine all the goodies that you fit in there! Hey, where's the pull along dog gone, Freya? ;)

I have to say, although I had my reservations with using this amazing leopard print and plain French Terry combo (both from Flamingo Fabrics) on Freya, she is really rocking the look! The teal/turquoise colour really suits her, and I love the contrast pocket and sleeves, as well as the black top stitching.

She is really channeling her inner fashion model today.

As you can see, I've made the version with the pocket (obviously), and with long sleeves. I graded the pattern using 3T width, and half-way between 24m and 2T for length based on her measurements. It's perfect for my 22-month old, with room to grow (are you tired of me saying that now for every outfit? I should probably add a banner on my blog: Queen of Darts - making toddler clothes with room to grow). Since it's made in a super comfy medium weight French Terry, I think it will last her nicely into the autumn months. That pocket is gonna keep her hands warm!

It came together so quickly. From tracing the pattern (oh yea, I'm definitely making it again!) to putting it over Freya's head, it was a short couple of hours.

There's not much more to say, as it was really such a quick and simple project from start to finish. Have a great weekend, all!
